Ford, Chevrolet, GMC, etc. are Manufactures of Vans, but not Conversion Vans. They make the base unit and then deliver it to an “Upfitter” to be customized. These upfitters are listed below.
When looking for just the right van for your needs, we recommend visiting as many Manufacturer Websites as possible, to see what options are available. There are literally 100’s of options. We do not list Dealers on this page – only the actual “Upfitters”. Each “Upfitter” can provide you with the necessary Dealer Information when you are ready to make your purchase.
The Van Conversion business declined rapidly in the 1990’s… leaving just a handful of Authorized companies. We use the term “Authorized” loosely, perhaps “Approved” would be a better choice. Although anyone can convert a van – certain safety criteria are generally applied to the “Approved” converters (Those officially recognized by the Big Automakers providing the Base Vans). Many of these Approved Upfitters are small companies and do not have websites. We list the sites we know of… and are happy to make additions to this list (See Contact Us in the Info Menu to send us a suggestion) Please contact the manufacturers directly with your questions and concerns about their products.

Sherrod Vans USA – Florida
For more than 20 years Sherrod has been manufacturing beautifully appointed Vans based on all 4 of the major manufacturers – Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford and GMC in their Jacksonville, Florida production facility. All vehicles are backed by their 3 year 36,000 mile warranty, a nationwide dealership network (40 states 200 dealers), and are built to their own “exacting standards”. Tuscany Vans USA – Indiana
Update 2025: This company no longer makes vans they make adventure rigs based on pickup trucks. Van Works USA – Colorado
VanWorks is part of Rocky Mountain TruckWorks in Fort Collins and has been customizing trucks and vans for a few decades now. They do not provide a production dealer ready van model like the Explorer Vans, but rather they customize on an individual basis.. Website: www.VanWorks.com
Waldoch Custom Vans USA – Minnesota
Founded in 1974; Waldoch is a Luxury Van outfitter utilizing Ford, GM, and Sprinter Vans as a base, which are then customized for sale only through a network of dealers. Website: www.Waldoch.com
