Aloha Van Man,
Currently living in Hawaii and have been paying $2,000 per month in Rent…..no savings! I am a 64 yr young single gal turning 65 this December! I just learned that I will only be getting $1,200 in SS benefits. That means I will NEVER be able to retire! YIKES! I have been fascinated watching Tiny Houses and seeing the BOXABLES by Musk. I also am seriously in love with the TREE HOUSES. Problem is… WEATHER! Also finding a place that has such a tree and then buying the property and paying for the build out.
I was thinking about seeing if I could save enough money to buy a big VAN or a Mobile Home that I could make my permanent home? I was hoping you MIGHT be a good resource for info and pricing in this particular space. I would be open to moving to the mainland in order to live the “on the road lifestyle”. Unfortunately, Hawaii doesn’t have mobile home parks. They also don’t have wide roads to accommodate such vehicles as homes. (At least… not that I am aware of?)
My questions include:
1) What is the cost I should prepare for if I am looking to buy a Conversion Van?
2) How much does it usually cost to outfit the Van with a full kitchen/bathroom/bedroom area?
3) How about a mobile/ motor home VS a Conversion Van?
4) What suggestions do you have for the wannabe TINY HOME owner?
Just out of curiousity….which state do you reside in? Have you ever been to Hawaii? I am eager to hear what you can share with me. I appreciate your time and talent!
Mahalo,
Krystal
